Dear Mama Julie.

Wow, what a big day I had! I was a real good boy on the drive to my new home. I only cried once, and that was just because I had to pee when we were about 18 miles from home. Christine pulled over, (Thank God) and I peed a lot!

She wasn't kidding about the bath being the first thing we did. I saw the cat through the glass, I think she was laughing at me. But as soon as I dried off, I got to go inside and see my new home and meet the cat, Tump. I like her, but I didn't get too close because she hissed at me, but I know she'll warm up to me in no time. I met the bunnies, I really, really like them, but they're scared of me. I'm lying here right now, watching them, they're so much fun to watch.

Steve and Christine have showed me all around they're big yard, and I'm listening to them when they call me to come back out of the woods. Christine say's she wants me to get better familiar with my surroundings before they let me employer the woods.

Thank you for everything you've done for me, and I'll be sure to keep in touch with my progress. I'm enclosing a few pictures for you.

God Bless!
Much Love,
Duke.... ps, Oh yeah they changed my name, and I already know it, think I like it. :)

Hey Julie. I just thought you'd like to know that Duke tested negative for heart worm yesterday. YEAH!!! They even knew about the treatment used on him. Anyway, they sent us home with his monthly heart worm preventive and checked him over real good. They were very impressed with his health and his attitude.

I can tell he misses you and his gal pal because he sleeps a lot and doesn't seem to really want to do anything other than watch the rabbits. Just got one question for ya, does he ever bark??? He hasn't said a word.

I can totally understand how you could get attached to these awesome dogs, and rest assure, he is in loving hands!

Thanks for everything you've done for him. We'll treasure him for the rest of his life!

God Bless.
Hi Christine,

You could not have given me any better news, HOORAY!! As much as we have had to defend this protocol with most vets of our adopters, it is so nice to see a vet that is informed and up to date on the latest treatments. When I tell our team this, they will be doing cartwheels, we don't normally have them in the rescue long enough to hear that they have tested negative, this will be so rewarding for the hard working people at our upstate location that do all of our Heart Worm treatments.

Yes, he does bark, normally only if he perceives a threat to his family and home, so if you hear him, I would pay attention! He is probably still acclimating to being in a new environment, but he is such a laid back boy that you will have to get him up and invite him to go on walks or play in the outdoors with you. He LOVES toys and balls, if you throw a ball for him, he will play all day with you :) trust me I have had many sore arms from playing so much with him. Just make sure that you don't play with him after he has eaten, this can make him bloat and that is extremely dangerous for a GSD.

Big Hugs to you all,

Jules

Dear Julie. Just wanted to give you an update on Jerry, aka Duke, aka Hugh. LOL. We are not in the habit of changing our pets name, but looking closer at his paper work, we discovered he was born on 6-18 which was my grandfathers birthday. So Duke was only a Duke for a day. So much for royalty huh?

He's adjusted very well! We can leave him in the house while we're gone with out any incident. Not only is he house broken but he prefers to poop in the woods instead of the yard! EUREKA, I can mow with out having to scoop poop first.

Our daughter brought her GS over for a visit after the first week, and they played very well together. It was great hearing him bark for the first time. (just to let Bailey know who's boss) I took him on a walk once over to our neighbors house, Jerry liked our neighbor but growled at his cousin, (a shady character if you ask me) GOOD BOY JERRY!!! Our neighbor really got a kick out of that and said he could come visit anytime. LOL.

He's eating the dog food called, Blue. It's all natural with no fillers and he loves it. It's expensive, but he is so worth it! We play a lot of ball, but I think his favorite thing to do, next to watching the rabbits, is snuggling on the sofa with me. He's a happy dog, and we feel blessed to have him in our family.

Enclosing a picture of Jerry and his pal Bailey. Jerry being the better looking of the two naturally. LOL

Thanks again, and God Bless you and your family!
