I am so proud of all you have accomplished here. Keep doing great things. ((Hugs)) to Murphy :)

Thank you very much for Tara. Both my daughter and I feel truly blessed. I wanted to share this bit of information concerning where the term "Mans Best Friend" comes from ...
The Phrase "Man's Best Friend" originated in a court of law. Back in October 28, 1869, A man's dog (named old drum), was shot to death by a neighboor. Animals had no rights back in those days, but the man wanted justice and so he hired 3 lawyers to sue the man who shot his dog. One of these lawyers, named George Graham Vest, is given credit for originally coining the phrase "Man's Best Friend" during his final summation to the jury. By the time he was finished with his speech, the jury only took 2 minutes to reach a verdict. The jury awarded the victim $5 (a very large amount of money back then). The jury also wanted the man to be sent to prison, but there were no laws governing this type of incident back then so the judge was not able to honor the jury's request for prison time.

This is a record of the final summation given by the lawyer...

Gentlemen of the Jury

The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son and daughter that he had reared with loving care may become ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him when he may need it most. Man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees and do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our head. The only absolutely unselfish friend a man may have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he can be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of a pauper as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert... he remains.

When riches take wings and reputations fall to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his grave side will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws and his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death.

hope that everyone would enjoy,

Take Care,

The trials and tribulations of rescue take much will, a strong heart, and the ability to stand in the face of adversity. It certainly looks, imho, like you are off to a great start. Be assured, you have friends and allies out here.

My mom is responsible for this resuce. She is the most compasionite person I know. And Im very proud of her! :) I love you mom! Keep up the good work!!!

You do a great job. We don't have enough rescues, and most are already full.

It's good to see a new rescue for these babies closer to the coast. We've sure needed one. I'm not able to foster right now but hopefully by the end of summer I'll be able to help out. Have fostered before for a local rescue but they have since moved on. Thanks again and I hope to speak with you personally soon.

Just wanted to thank you for my beautiful Shepherd Trixie. She is one of the smartest and best behaved dogs that I have ever owned. The commitment and dedication you have to unwanted German Shepherds is inspiring.I will definitely be getting another Shepherd from you and have recommended your website to anyone that wants a quality animal.Thank you again.

If I were closer, I would fill out your foster application in a heartbeat (temporarily living in east Tennessee). Hopefully at this time next year I will be moving back to NC and will definitely look you up.

hi

I love dogs and I would love to give one the home and love that it needs with a good a happy environment.I fell in love when I saw Fuller because I have never saw a white german shepard before but he is beautiful. Faith brought me to volunteer at the SPCA because without them I wouldn't have known about the rescue. I can't wait to adopt. This websit is awesome!!!!

Thank you so much for taking care of Henry until I could find him. He is such a wonderful dog and I am so thankful there are caring and loving people like you who give homeless dogs a loving enviroment while they wait for their forever home. I love your organization and would adopt again if/when I get more room in my house.

i love you guys

Thanks for all you do for all the displaced fur kids that end up in shelters. You have such a kind and loving heart, and have given SO many a second chance at life! I have been on the phone with you as discarded moms have whelped litters in your house, and I have heard their first squals. I know you treat them as your own, and they couldnt be more loved. Bless you for all you have done for all the fur kids who find themsleves i harm's way! You rock!
