This is Dylan. Pathetic isn't he? Dylan was found wandering alone, scared, and almost starved to death! He had a rabies tag on, and when his owner was contacted, she coldly stated that she did not care where he was or what shape he was in. She did NOT want anything to do with him anymore. What kind of heartless monster would do that to
this poor baby? He's about 15 months old...still has his entire life ahead of him, and was just thrown out like yesterday's garbage! Who could do this to one of God's creatures?! He probably did nothing wrong, and only gave total and unconditional love (or at least he tried to), and this is how he was repaid?!
Anyway, look in his eyes, and you will see the same thing that we at New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue saw. Hope and desire. Dylan WANTS to be in a loving home. He wants to be healthy and happy. He wants to be loved and wants to return that love in the unconditional love that all dogs have for their families. He's a mear baby...and already has been treated this badly!
Well....not any more!!!!!!! New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue saw this poor baby and our hearts went out to him immediately. He is now safe from harm in our rescue and is doing as well as can be expected after the horrific treatment he had received. He is being fed by hand every two hours by our dedicated staff so that he does not get bloat from swallowing too much air by gulping his food. After all...he's starving and would woof down everything we gave him in one gulp...and bloat can KILL a shepherd in no time at all! He also had mange so badly that when they put the turnacate on his leg to draw blood, the turnacate made his leg bleed! How sad is that?
We are working our hardest to get him well, and Dylan is fighting just as hard as we are for that. You can look in his eyes and see the desire to be well and to love and to please. He doesn't complain at all, but you know he feels miserable. He is so loving. He puts his head in your lap and looks up at you with those big, brown, trusting eyes....and your heart can't help but melt and the tears start at the thought of what he's had to endure. Then a smile creeps across your face because you KNOW he trusts you 100% and that everything is going to be OK. And....Dylan's right. It WILL be OK, but we need your help! On top of the starvation and mange, Dylan also may have organ damage to some extent from the starvation and maybe even canine diabetes (that we are praying will go away once we get him nourished fully and all the other things taken care of...

After MONTHS of hard work and HOURS and HOURS of constant vigilence, THIS is Dylan NOW!!!! We could NOT have done this without YOU!!! Thank you from the bottom of our herarts and especially from DYLAN!!
